Social Media Content Creator (Casual Contract)

Help shape the face of H&R Block on social media.

We're looking for a confident, creative, and camera-ready Social Media Content Creator to join our Marketing team on a casual contract basis.

This role is ideal for an existing H&R Block Tax Consultant who has a passion for social media, enjoys educating people about tax, and loves creating engaging content. You'll work closely with our Marketing team to develop content that informs, entertains, and helps Australians better understand their tax obligations while showcasing the expertise of H&R Block.

As one of the faces of our brand, you'll help create timely, relevant content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms throughout the year, with increased activity during tax season and key tax-related news events.

What You'll Do

Content Creation

  • Create engaging, on-brand social media content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and emerging platforms.
  • Assist with capturing and creating high-quality reels, short-form videos, static posts and educational content.
  • Write scripts, develop content concepts and help bring creative ideas to life.
  • Film and present content confidently on camera.
  • Edit photos and videos for social media using basic editing tools and apps.

Tax Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Share insights and ideas based on your knowledge of:
    • Individual tax returns
    • Sole trader tax
    • Small business tax
    • Property investment tax
    • Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
    • ATO changes and tax news
  • Identify trending tax topics, client questions and current events that can be turned into engaging social content.
  • Help explain complex tax topics in a simple, relatable and entertaining way.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Marketing team on content planning and scheduling.
  • Contribute ideas for seasonal campaigns, social trends, educational content and "edutainment" opportunities.
  • Support content creation at key tax season events and activations.
  • Respond quickly to emerging tax news or trending topics with relevant content opportunities.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Current H&R Block associate with tax preparation experience
  • Strong knowledge across individual tax, sole trader, small business, property and CGT-related topics.
  • Comfortable and confident speaking on camera.
  • Professional presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong written communication and storytelling abilities.
  • Active user of social media platforms, particularly Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
  • Ability to work independently and turn around content quickly when opportunities arise.

Desirable

  • Experience creating reels, TikToks, short-form videos or other social content.
  • Basic video editing skills using mobile or desktop editing tools.
  • Understanding of social media trends, memes and platform best practices.
  • Previous experience representing a brand online or in media.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of creating content seen by millions of Australians.
  • Help educate people on tax in a relatable and engaging way.
  • Work closely with our national Marketing team.
  • Develop your personal content creation and media skills.
  • Flexible casual engagement throughout the year, with additional opportunities during tax season.

Employment Type

This is a casual contract role operating throughout the year, with flexibility based on content requirements and seasonal demand.

How to Apply

Please apply online via our recruitment portal. You will be asked a few short questions, and will have the opportunity to submit examples of content you've created. This doesn't need to be a formal portfolio. A few reels, TikToks, videos, social posts, or links to content you've created will be sufficient. As part of the process we may also ask you to record a short scripted test video about a tax topic.

We're looking for people who can combine tax expertise with creativity, helping us turn complex tax topics into content Australians actually want to watch.
