Tax Advisor – U.S. Expat Tax | Full-Time | Sydney or Melbourne

Are you an experienced tax professional with a passion for solving complex tax matters and helping clients navigate life across borders?

We’re looking for two Tax Advisors specialising in U.S. expatriate tax to join our USA Expat Division.

These are full-time, hybrid positions, with one opportunity based in Sydney CBD and the other in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne.

You’ll support U.S. citizens living across Australia with their tax obligations, providing specialist advice across tax planning, compliance and reporting. Working with a diverse client base, you’ll help individuals confidently navigate the complexities of U.S. taxation while living and working abroad.

What you’ll do

  • Provide tax planning and compliance services to U.S. expatriates across Australia
  • Prepare and review individual U.S. tax returns
  • Advise clients on foreign income exclusions, foreign tax credits and applicable treaty benefits
  • Assist clients with IRS audits and correspondence relating to expatriate tax matters
  • Stay up to date with changes to U.S. tax laws and regulations affecting expatriates
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals to deliver practical, well-rounded solutions
  • Build strong, trusted client relationships through excellent service and communication

What you’ll bring

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in tax preparation and advisory services, ideally with a focus on expatriate taxation
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations affecting expatriates
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • The ability to confidently manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office
